Synopsis
Louise and her mother, Blanche, run L'étape, a café-restaurant in a small village in Savoy. L'étape isn’t just a bistro, it’s also a new home for a whole flock of troubled children who can always find refuge there. Louise, with her unsettling sense of humor, believes that words have the power to heal emotional wounds.
On the opposite side of the national highway Le Virage stands, managed by Lucie Chevrier and her daughters. The long-standing rivalry between the two businesses reaches a peak during a truck drivers’ strike that blocks the village. Then, to cap it off, Pierre, the truck drivers’ leader, unsettles the lives of these women, along with the life of the small community.
He stirs up a mixture of fuss and bother, but also tenderness, that usually goes by the name of “love.”
And what if life was theirs to take?
