Unfortunately they hate each other as much as they hate walking. Nevertheless, they head out on the road, lured by the prospect of money. They hitch up with their guide in Puy, and discover that they’ll be walking with a group of six other people, including a young beur (person born in France of North African parents) who has convinced his naïve cousin that he’s taking him to Mecca, whereas he’s chasing after a young pilgrim who’s the love of his life. The road is long, the misunderstandings, conflicts, love affairs, dreams, and inner journeys of the nine characters unfold against the backdrop of astounding landscapes all the way to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.
