Synopsis
Carl and his friends intend to buy a luxury hotel. Carl scouts out Belhorizon, only to discover that this hotel is in fact a small family boarding house run by a Spanish immigrant couple. Initially irritated by this absurd place, Carl has a change of heart when he learns that his father’s finances are in dire straits. Esmé, the hotel maid, then catches his eye and they draw closer together. It’s right around then that his pals, Simon, Anabelle, Henri, Isabelle, and Lucy arrive. Rich, young couples on vacation who’ll upset the apple cart. During one day and night, in the time that it’s possible to imagine a possible future between Carl and Esmé, the social classes crossing paths will make sparks fly. An allusion to The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie.
