In 1870, Jamie Dodd, a Scottish anthropologist, returns from Africa to Scotland with two Pygmies. These “wild dwarves” are quickly coveted by all and sundry. Some believe that they are the "missing link" between apes and man, while others want to turn them into circus animals.
Only Dodd treats them as though they are human beings, not savages.
