Synopsis
Confronted with a drought that endangers the lives of the tribe and their cattle, a group of village elders send a team of young, inexperienced warriors to search for a mythical lion, Vitchua, the incarnation of the Red God, the god of vengeance, to bring back its mane.
In so doing, the warriors will bring about the end of the curse that has taken hold of their community, and thereby call forth the rain. During the eventful quest that takes them across the plains of Kenya, the young warriors learn the meaning of friendship and courage. Constantly faced with danger, they must cope with betrayal, fear and rivalry in order to become men.
Inspired by Masai mythology, this fable about initiation, suitable for young and old alike, recounts a universal story while taking us on a journey to the heart of a culture isolated from the rest of the world. Interpreted by real Masai warriors from the Masai region (Southern Kenya), the film’s ten heroes are messengers who suddenly draw us into a world that was formerly totally unfamiliar to us.
