gets a new look !
Lamia, 15, lives in a village in the south of Lebanon. She has been promised in marriage to a cousin, Samy, who she has only seen on video, and who lives in a neighboring village. The day of her wedding, she must “cross” the border, with its rows of barbed wire and control towers, that separates their two towns. Lamia’s village is Lebanese, Samy’s has been annexed by Israel. She moves in with her family-in-law, leaving behind the younger brother she adores, her school, kite, mother, past. She doesn’t cry, she doesn’t scream, she doesn’t say a word… This silence is her way of rebelling. She resists her husband, refuses to eat, becomes the “crazy woman”, and then slowly falls in love with a soldier who, right from the first day, has kept his eye on her, knows and loves her.
