The Middle Ages in Slovakia.

14-year-old Thomas lives in the forest adjoining Lord Balador’s castle. He is in love with Balador’s daughter, Formina. Thomas can communicate with animals and has an innate talent for taming them.
One of his companions, a great falcon, rescues Ostrick, Formina’s fiancé. Lord Balador heaps riches and rewards upon Thomas, but he chooses to return to live in the forest.
