Alex, fortyish, ambitious, but tastefully so despite his exemplary social success, apparently has all that he could wish for… Nothing seems to get in the way of his rapid rise within his rich, influential father-in-law’s corporation. However, Alex will soon experience the downside of success. His father-in-law, jealous of his right-hand man’s talents, is concerned about the importance his son-in-law is taking within the company. He also fears he’ll be rousted from his position as CEO, and devises, with the unwitting complicity of his daughter, a machiavellian plot to get rid of Alex. A series of photos showing Alex in a comprising situation with an attractive woman fall into his wife’s hands. Her father is counting on the scandal caused by this ‘affair,’ and his daughter’s reaction upon discovering her husband’s infidelity, to bring about Alex’s downfall. His daughter is quick to react, demanding an explanation, threatening to leave her husband. Despite Alex’s protestations, the argument turns ugly, and he desperately tries to reason with his wife… in vain. In an hysterical state, she trips over an electrical cord in her photo laboratory, mortally injuring herself when she falls. Her assistant, who’s in an adjoining room, overhears the argument and is convinced that Alex has killed his wife. She then becomes the main witness for the prosecution. The father, crazy with grief, goes gunning for Alex with everything he’s got. All hell breaks loose for Alex: accused of murder, he’s thrown in jail. Yet, he pulls himself together when he finds out that his father-in-law’s housekeeper has proof of his innocence…
