He's stagnating, just going around in circles. Discouraged by things, he proposes marriage to Laurence, the woman for whom he works. He knows that she loves him, since she doesn't bother to hide it. They'll have children, etcetera, and love will follow. She accepts. Meanwhile, Christophe, 21, is in love with Alain, but Alain isn't interested in “caged love.” One of Alain's legal clients is Marc, a young, handsome and obsessive criminal doing a life sentence in prison. Fascinated by his client, Alain perhaps even desires him; Marc senses the ambiguity of their relationship and asks Alain to find Babette, his girlfriend, whom he loves so madly that he committed murder for her sake.
