    Synopsis

At the end of the 30s, Chamonix is an elegant ski-resort attracting cosmopolitan and fashionable society with the latest in alpine adventure. Here fashionable folk rub shoulders with Chamonix inhabitants, two worlds usually destined to never meet. But high up in Mont-Blanc's deep silence, nothing counts except for the gorgeous landscape and the exhilirating challenge of adventure. It's here that Zian Servettaz, a young guide from Chamonix, imparts his crazy passion for mountains to Bianca, the daughter of a wealthy Milanese industrialist. Their fate is sealed. Subject

I'd already done a bit of mountaineering, but Chamonix has some interesting

peculiarities: it's very steep and you're immediately find yourself in

snow. If you come from Paris, you suffocate, not only because of the

altitude, but because the air is so pure... I naively thought that mountain

sickness was something funny, I felt great. 9000 feet up, it was like being

hit on the back of the head. I was ill. It was then that I realized just

how physiologically testing mountains can be.
