Kini and Adams are the world's best friends and share the same dreams. Fleeing country life, they both want to migrate to the city. There's only one problem : for the trip they've chosen a right old jalopy. The two friends spend so much time laughing and goofing off that they don't realise the amount they spend on spare parts, which perhaps make the car look nicer, but do nothing for its perfomance. When Kini and Adams eventually manage to find steady work and a fixed wage, they hope their dream will come true. But personal ambition also brings its share of rivality. Will their friendship stand the test ?
"For Ouedraogo, the anecdote is a means of expressing both feelings and contrast. His images sing the beauty of arid landscapes, his theme gradually reveals the underlying idea that the only wealth both calculable and conquerable must arise from the hearts of men. It is in this, like many before him, but in other contexts, that he touches us with his vigorous missionary faith in brotherhood." (Claude Baignères - Le Figaro)
