gets a new look !
A film devised in three sections. Three sections resulting from different periods in our history. "Will you at last tell me which men are the best for you ?" (Plato)
"Isolation is, from man's point of view, the disease that the world in which we live suffers from." (Arendt)
"Could you accept for once that your idea of good isn't necessary the right one, without you automatically being bad". (Miéville)
It's all a matter of approach, not words. Of instinct rather than intellect. This is indeed cinema. Godard, people have often said, withdrew in the 70's, to carry out experiments on video and start from scratch. His first work with Miéville dates from that period, notably with "Numéro deux", a sort of home-movie that coldly dissects a couple's life. In its more gentle way, "Nous sommes tous encore ici" is the distant reply of the lady to her haughty, touching and unshaved gentleman. An exacting and lucid account of the condition of the isolated artist and, beyond that, of the task of living and its even more exalting and dangerous variant (a challenge and a game) : life a s a couple". (François Gorin, Télérama)
