Synopsis Ponette is four years old when her mother dies in an accident. This absence is unbearable for her. She speaks to her mom, waits for her, looks for her, with certitude and ever growing pig-headedness. No one can convince her that she will not find her. Summary "Not to shortchange her desire... Ponette is a child who does not let up on her desire, who does not accept what others try to put over on her. She does battle with her entourage. She won't swallow any old nonsense for the sake of consolation. She gives herself the right to refuse, she behaves as if she were her own person. She resists. I like how she resists, with such stubborness. I like how she refuses what we think we're obliged to accept. Adult lives are filled with renunciation. When they're small, the children are really resilient. And as they grow they abandon that. If we each gave in a little more to our desire, we could do a lot. It was perhaps this adult cowardice which led me to film little Ponette meeting Victoire."
