"Un samedi sur la terre" deals with ordinary people to whom extraordinary things happen. The film, built like a puzzle, recounts the tale of a murder. It sweeps us off in its maelstrom and forces us, through a series of chance occurrences and misunderstanding, to be witnesses, on a certain Saturday in October, to Claire and Martin's tragic fate.
"I remember my first meeting with Elsa Zylberstein in a tearoom. Would she accept this unusual project ?... I remember her smile, the way time seemed to stand still and the dampness on my back... She accepted and everything became possible within a fraction of a second... I then remember the intense pleasure of the casting process, the generosity of the actors and the joy of accepting them too... I remember the location scouting in Normandy with Michel Amathieu and our anxiety at having to shoot on location in November when the story was supposed to take place in summer...
