About

"I remember my first meeting with Elsa Zylberstein in a tearoom. Would she accept this unusual project ?... I remember her smile, the way time seemed to stand still and the dampness on my back... She accepted and everything became possible within a fraction of a second... I then remember the intense pleasure of the casting process, the generosity of the actors and the joy of accepting them too... I remember the location scouting in Normandy with Michel Amathieu and our anxiety at having to shoot on location in November when the story was supposed to take place in summer... I remember the first dailies in the parish hall in Veulettes and the whole crew waiting for a projector that wouldn't work... but I above all remember the happiness of being together to make this film, as if it was the most important thing in our lives... And, it's true, it was..."
