Following a crazy series of misunderstandings, Loris, a loser struggling through life, is taken for a dangerous sex maniac, the Mozart of Vice! A monster who has already committed a series of hideous murders. The police chief, on the advice of a psychiatrist, decides to set a trap for him. A ravishing police auxiliary is ordered to serve as bait with the task of harassing the "monster" in order to release a horde of lascivious demons within him.

This Franco-Italian coproduction has set a historic record in Italy where its phenomenal success can be compared to that of "Les Visiteurs" in France. Since its release in Italy in October 1994, "The Monster" has became the biggest box-office hit of all time. After three months on the screens, 6 million people had seen the film.
Michel Blanc, who was closely involved in the creation of "The Monster", wrote the French adaptation of the film. In the French-dubbed version, Patrick Timsit provides the voice for Roberto benigni.
