Last Event (The)

Honors and glory have little importance for her. Catherine is an athlete who runs for the pure pleasure. She gives it all her heart and soul, with much passion also given to Olivier, a sports journalist with whom she shares her life. One day, this passion blinds her to the consequences when the "unfairness" of an injury, a few weeks before an important competition, Catherine accepts what she has always refused : a drug which hides the pain while allowing her to continue running. The world "drugging" is forgotten when success arrives : Catherine is the 800 meters Champion of France. She's aiming toward the Championship of Europe and the Olympic Games. The consequences, Catherine cannot avoid. She forgets the risks of sanctions and physical harm. She accepts these drugs which transform but deform her. She ignores Olivier's warning and plunges deeper into destruction. She runs, even faster, stronger and further yet... Perhaps it is death that will catch up with her...
