François Truffaut : Stolen Portraits

François Truffaut : Stolen Portraits

A Feature film by Serge Toubiana, Michel Pascal

Produced by Chrysalide Films

Release in France : 14/05/1993

    Synopsis

This film unveils a new sort of cinematography : that of an essay on an author. The aim is to recount the life and work of François Truffaut, a recognised director but hardly known as a person. The story leads to an investigation : declarations from numerous friends, colleagues, family members, actors, actresses and other directors who were close to him. In the editing, we see all differents points of view on Truffaut's life and work through excerpts, documents from archives to unpublished photos until finally they all intertwine and shape a story where the speech of one replies to another, either to refute a remark, to mark a slight difference, or to question and enrich a point of view.
