The 60th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival offers an opportunity to focus the event on themes of modernity and regeneration. Our aim is to celebrate international filmmaking by revitalizing all of the festival's activities, by bringing a new dynamism to our artistic decisions, by continuing to raise the profile of films, and by bringing artists together to share their sources of inspiration and their passions.

This focus on the future is clearly expressed in the festival poster, which incorporates photos by Alex Majoli for Magnum Photos that show leading international film personalities jumping in the air...

To illustrate our desire to make this anniversary event a tribute to our artists, we initiated an original film project entitled Chacun son Cinéma, conceived as both a highly personal and collective work dedicated to the movie theater. 35 renowned film directors participated in the project, each given total freedom to dream up a 3-minute film based on this theme. The film aims to unite all movie-lovers from around the world focusing on the movie theater as a temple of passion and emotion.

This theme also prevails in the festival's new website, which has been completely upgraded and redesigned with a state of the art presentation and more user-friendly navigation that gives users access to the latest innovative technologies.

The website www.festival-cannes.org offers the best of festival news, photos, and videos during the festival, and serves as a showcase for the event throughout the year.
