The 10th edition of Jakarta International Film Festival (JiFFest) will take place from December 5-14, 2008. Aside from usual line-ups that feature hundreds feature films from many countries, this year's festival will be presented in a more jubilant manner, as it marks a decade of a world-class international film festival in Indonesia. To start off the year, the festival will be traveling to several cities around Indonesia. Under the apt name of JiFFest Traveling, the event will feature selected films from previous years' festival to be screened in colleges and film communities across the country. Two mini film festivals on April and August will be held to warm up eager audiences leading to the actual festival on December. As for the festival itself, expect world premieres of homegrown and regional cinemas. This year marks the 3rd Indonesian Feature Film Competition, where all of Indonesian films released within a year will compete to win coveted prizes of USD 10,000 in total for both Best Picture and Best Director. JiFFest will also bring back its Script Development Competition, as well as premiering winners of the competition in previous year. In addition, for the first time JiFFest will make a new competition of South East Asian films under the existing A View from the SEA program, a showcase of contemporary South East Asian cinemas. Expect various kind of celebration, including 10th JiFFest Gallery Exhibition, all in December 2008!
