Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), approved by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), has been held since 1985 as one of the major film festivals of the world. TIFF, which includes a feature-length film competition at its core, attaches importance to vitalize its film industry by introducing a wide range of new films from the world to the domestic territory, and by promoting Japanese films abroad. Besides the Competition section, the main sections are: "World Cinema", "Winds of Asia-Middle East", "Japanese Eyes" and retrospective programs. The festival has also a market called TIFFCOM.
