Sofia International Film Festival is the biggest film festival in Bulgaria and one of the key film events in Central and Eastern Europe.
The 12th Sofia International Film Festival will be held from 6 until 16 March 2008 in Sofia. Additional programme of 10 more days (12 – 18 March) will screen retrospectives and other films mainly for the BG audience. The festival will present more than 100 films – feature films, documentaries and two programmes of short films. SIFF has an International Competition (Grand Prix for best first & second film) and Special Jury Award, Kodak Award for best Bulgarian feature film, Jameson Short Film Award for best Bulgarian short, No Man’s Land Award for Best Balkan Film, FIPRESCI and audience award.
Key spot of the festival is Sofia Meetings, a coproduction market which consist of: Second Films Pitching – presentation of second feature film projects looking for financial support and cooperation and Balkan Screenings – showcase of the latest Bulgarian and regional films for directors and programmers from different international festivals, world sales companies and journalists.
