Biography

Graduated of the National School of Cinema Louis Lumière, Yves Angelo begins his career as camera operator on Jeanne Moreau’s L’Adolescente. He then works as chief cameraman for many filmmakers such as Claude Miller or Claude Sautet.
By three times he wins the Best Photography Cesar Award for Nocturne indien and All the Mornings of the World by Alain Corneau in 1990 & 1992 and for Germinal by Claude Berry two years later.
In 1993, he directs his first feature, Colonel Chabert that wins him many nominations to Cesar Awards. His following features, An Air So Pure in 1997 or Stolen Life (1998) allows him to work with most renown actors: André Dussollier, Fabrice Luchini, Sandrine Bonnaire or Emmanuelle Béart.
In parallel to his directing career, Yves Angelo still workd as chief cameraman, especially on Alain Corneau’s films as Fear and Tremblings or Words in Blue.
