Biography

After a bachelor’s degree in photographical arts, Julie Lopes-Curval joins in the Cours Florent.
Soon, she deviates from acting to dedicate herself to writing and stage direction of theatre plays (Vitrine and La Vitesse du passant). Her writing activity also leads her to cinema. She writes a medium length film Adolescents (a work intended to an audiovisual workshop) and the comedy Business is Booming directed by Eric Véniard (2001). As the screenwriter she also writes François Favrat’s Role of Her Life.
As a director, she works with Jonathan Zaccaï she first directs in the short film Mademoiselle Butterfly (2001) then in her first feature Seaside, selected at the Director’s Fortnight 2002 and winner of the Caméra d’or. Their fruitful collaboration continues in the “photo-story” i>You and Me (2005) also starring Marion Cotillard and Julie Depardieu.
