Biography

At the age of 16, Richard Berry joins a group of amateur actors and develops a passion for Racine, Corneille, Molière and Beaumarchais. In 1969, he enters the National Drama Academy and then joins the Comédie-Française for the seven next years.
Elie Chouraquie offers him his first main role on screen in My First Love and he then continues to regularly appear in first works such as An Assassin Passes By by Michel Vianey or Putain d’histoire d’amour by Gilles Béhat. In 1982, Richard Berry has his first success with The Nark by Bob Swain and A Man and a Woman: 20 Years Later by Claude Lelouch, sequel of A Man and a Woman. La Garce is the beginning of a nice collaboration with Christine Pascal and he will also remain true to Alexandre Arcady with whom he works on the two episodes of Le Grand Pardon. With Patrick Timsit, he takes comedy up again in What A Drag! by Gabriel Aghion and Quasimodo d’el Paris by Patrick Timsit.
In 2001, Richard Berry directs his first movie L’Art (délicat) de la seduction and the same year he appears in August 15th by Patrick Alessandrin and the next year in The New Jean-Claude by Didier Tronchet, adaptation of a famous comic strip.
In 2002, Richard Berry also takes part to the transposition on screen of Corto Maltese, another comic strip, for which he is the voice of the famous adventurer.
In 2002, he directs his second movie, a comedy, I, Cesar.
