BiographyA graduate from the FEMIS National Film School in scriptwriting, Anne-Sophie Birot won the award for "Best Young Director" at the 1997 Clermont-Ferrand Festival for her short film "Une vague idée de la mer." "Girls Can't Swim" is her first feature film, released in France on October 18, 2000. The film has been screened at numerous festivals (including Montreal, Toronto and Acapulco.) The film's leading actresses, Isild Le Besco and Karen Alyx, took out the "Best Actress" award at the Arcachon Film Festival. Anne-Sophie Birot is currently working on the screenplay for her second feature, "Caboche." |
