Biography

After studying at the Atelier International de Théâtre at the American Center, under the direction of Blanche Salant, Marc Adjadj began his acting career in 1974 and went on to perform in some 15 stageplays. He moved into directing for the theater in 1979 with "Kuilleres valises de Karl Valentin." This was followed by "L'Age d'or du genou féminin" (1988), "Eva" (1989) and "Sales rêves" (1991). Adjadj has also acted for the movies, featuring in "La Dérobade" ("The Getaway," aka "The Life," aka "Memoirs of a French Whore") in 1978 by Daniel Duval, "Le Grand Pardon" (1981) by Alexandre Arcady, "Life is a Bed of Roses" (1982) by Alain Resnais, "Les Fugitifs" (1986) by Francis Veber as well as "C'est quoi la vie?" (1998) by François Dupeyron. He has played in numerous TV series, including "Les Cinq dernières minutes," "L'Agence," "Burma," "Cordier, juge et flic," and "Navarro," as well as TV movies, the most recent of which include "Denis" by Catherine Corsini, "Les Exilés" by Laurent Cantet in 1997 and "La Voleuse de Saint-Lubin" by Claire Devers in 1999. Marc Adjadj began directing for the movies in 1985 with the short film "Pour quelques je t'aime de plus," which won him the Jury Prize at the Nice Film Festival. After "La Blonde est de retour" (Audience Prize at the Sarlat Film Festival in 1993), he co-wrote and co-directed, along with Philippe Pollet-Villard, his first feature film, "Jacqueline dans ma vitrine." The film was released in France June 28, 2000.
