Biography

Jean-Loup Hubert was born in 1949. He made his first feature in 1981, ''L'année prochaine si tout va bien'' starring Thierry Lhermitte and Isabelle Adjani. After ''La Smala'' in 1984, came the highly acclaimed ''Le Grand Chemin'' in 1986; a film full of tenderness, marked by the performances of Anémone and Richard Bohringer. In 1989, Jean-Loup Hubert made ''Après la guerre'' and in 1991 ''La Reine blanche'' with Catherine Deneuve, Bernard Giraudeau and Richard Bohringer. ''A cause d'elle'' 1993, tells of the film-maker's first love. ''Marthe'' is his seventh feature.
