Complete filmography
BiographyStarting out as an actor, Jean-Pierre Mocky played the lead role in the film “La tête contre les murs” by Georges Franju in 1959. That same year, he directed his first feature, “Les Dragueurs,” giving the impression of joining the French New Wave. But this was not to last, since in 1962 he established himself, with great delight, as a rebel, with a very personal and often highly provocative style, shooting films at a face pace that aimed to raise bad taste and overdone acting to the status of positive qualities. Mocky has a faithful following among audiences that allows him to direct one or two low-budget films each year, often with support from some of the most celebrated French actors. Some of his films explore more personal themes ("Solo", "L’Albatros"), in which he plays a melancholy hero oppressed by society. His career has been marked by the men and women who have supported him, including Jean Cocteau, Marcel Aymé, Anouilh, Félix Labisse, Pierre Dac, Bourvil, Michel Simon, Jacqueline Maillan, Catherine Deneuve and Michel Serrault. Among his successful films, we can mention “A mort l’arbitre,” “Le Miraculé,” “Les saisons du plaisir,” “Agent trouble” and "Robin des mers."
