Complete filmography
BiographyThe theatre group Le Splendid was born from the encounter of Michel Blanc, Christian Clavier, Gérard Jugnot and Thierry Lhermitte in High School, soon joined by Josiane Balasko and Marie-Anne Chazel.
In the 70’, Le Splendid is at the origin of some of the theatre and movie success of that time: the Bronzés’ series or Help! Help! Santa Clauss Is On The Looss.
Consecutively to his career on stage, Gérard Jugnot makes his debut as an individual actor in Getting It Up (Going Places) (1974), Le Juge et l’assassin (1976) or The Tenant the same year.
Gérard Jugnot carries his middle-class Frenchmen character mostly in comedies under the direction of Edouard Molinaro, Jean-Marie Poiré or Yves Amoureux.
In 1987, the audience discovers a new aspect, tender and less caricatural of Gérard Jugnot’s talent in Tandem by Patrice Leconte.
Gérard Jugnot directs his first feature in 1984, Pinot simple flic then Boy Scout Forever. Although comedies, his next features give a bitter and more dramatic vision of the society: Une époque formidable, Casque Bleu or Monsieur Batignole.
The success of The Choir in 2004 strengthens Gérard Jugnot’s popularity.
In 2005, he directs Boudu and stars alongside Jean Dujardin in Never Say Never by Eric Civanyan.
2006 will welcome the reunion of Le Splendid on screen in Bronzés 3 – Friends for Life by Patrice Leconte, and Gérard Jugnot will also star in The Tiger’s Brigades by Jérôme Cornuau.
