Biography

Jeannot Szwarc was born in Paris, and, after leaving HEC and IDHEC film school, he started out by making advertisements. In 1964, he left for Hollywood where he worked for television before directing his first feature, "The Hephaestes Plague," in 1975. The film won the Golden Unicorn and the Audience Award at the Paris Fantasy Film Festival. After "Jaws 2" (1978), he directed "Somewhere in Time" (1979), with Christopher Reeves. It won the Golden Antenna Prize at the Avoriaz Film Festival. He had also directed fifteen telefilms, including episodes for "Columbo" and "Kojak." Back in France in 1993, he directed "Revenge of a Blonde," with Christian Clavier and Marie-Anne Chazel. "Hercule et Sherlock" (1996) and "Les soeurs soleil" (1997) were quick to follow.
