Michel Piccoli made his cinematic debut as an extra in ''Sortilèges'' by Christian Jaque. Since then he has worked with the greatest: Bunuel, Ferreri, Hitchcock, Rivette, Malle, Boisset and Girod, to name but a few. Disturbing, cynical and unsettling as in ''Une Etrange Affaire'', or vulnerably seductive as in the films of Sautet, he is one of France's finest film actors. With ''Alors Voilà'', he has launched into directing a highly original film which nonetheless keeps faith with some of his commitments, both as a man and as a citizen.
