BiographySon of actor and director Georges Wilson, Lambert Wilson is early connected with theatre. Between 1974 and 1978, he follows the London Drama Center’s teaching, where he also learns chant and music.
He makes his debut in Julia by Fred Zimmerman who also directs him in Five Days One Summer five years later alongside Sean Connery. His French career starts in 1984 with La Femme publique by Andrzej Zulawski, Rendez-vous by André Téchiné and Rouge Baiser by Véra Belmont in 1985.
In 1987, he stars in The Belly of a Architect by Peter Greenaway and Chouans ! by Philippe de Broca and the next years in Andzej Wajda’s The Possessed. Two features bring him the public and critic’s credit: La Vouivre by Georges Wilson (1988) and Winter of 54’ by Denis Amar (1989) where he plays Father Pierre. Everyone greets his performance and Lambert Wilson is awarded with the Jean Gabin Prize that rewards promising French actors.
From then on, Lambert Wilson keeps on develop his talents, from costumes movies (Jefferson in Paris – 1995) to musicals (Same Old Song by Alain Resnais – 1997) and comedies such as Jet Set by Fabien Ontenente (2000).
In the same time, an American career opens to him with Matrix reloaded and Matrix revolution by Andy Wachowski (2002), Prisonniers du temps by Richard Donner and Catwoman by French director Pitof.
