Born in Syria, Milka Assaf settled in Paris at the age of 19. She took philosophy classes at the Sorbonne before being accepted at the IDHEC film school (directing section) in 1996. At the same time she took drama classes at the Cours Simon, followed by further training under Grotowsky and Roy John Strasberg at the Actors Studio. She also studied scriptwriting under Frank Daniel. Since 1978 she has directed many documentary and short fiction films, in some of which she also acts. "Les Migrations de Vladimir" is her first feature film as director.
