Born in Italy, Monica Belluci is first a model before starting an acting career in Dino Risi’s TV production Vita coi fligi (1990) before she gets her first important role on screen in La Riffa by Francesco Laudadio (1991). In 1992, she appears in Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula.
Discovered in France in The Apartment by Gilles Mimouni (1996) she starts a fruitful French career. She then works with Jan Kounen (Doberman – 1997), Gaspar Noé (Irreversible – 2002), Alain Chabat (Asterix and Obelix, Mission Cleopatra – 2002), ou Frédéric Schoendoerffer (Spy Bounds – 2004). At the same time, she makes a rewarding international career under the direction of Mel Gibson, the Wachowski Brothers or Terry Gilliam.
In 2005, she stars in How Much do You Love Me? by Bertrand Blier alongside Bernard Campan and Gérard Depardieu and is expected in 2006 in Guillaume Nicloux’ next movie The Stone Council.
