Starting in 1985, Ahmed Bouchaala collaborated on various TV commercials, music videos and concerts. He was assistant director on the film "Mauvais Sang" ("Bad Blood") by Léos Carax. In 1993, he wrote and directed the short film "C’est la haine." In 1995, along with Zakia Bouchaala, he co-wrote their first feature film, "Krim." Their second feature, "Origine contrôlée" ("Made in France") was released in January 2001.
