Ilan Duran Cohen lives and works in Paris. He studied film at the New York Film School. In 1991, after making his first feature film, “Lola Zipper,” he momentarily decided to forego directing for writing – but not before making the documentary “Black Cow Boy.” In 1997, he first novel, “Chronique Alicienne,” was published by Actes Sud. This was followed in 1999 by “Le Fils de la sardine,” also published by Actes Sud. The novels, mixing cynical humor with sensitivity, have proved widely popular. Cohen’s second feature, “La Confusion des genres,” will be released in French theaters, 27 December, 2000.
