Biography

Serge Le Péron directed "L'Olivier" in 1976, his first feature-length documentary about the Middle East conflict which won 1st Prize at the Carthage and Orleans Film Festivals. He was head of the "Journal des Cahiers du Cinéma" and went on to join the editorial committee of "Les Cahiers du Cinéma" before making his first feature film, "Laisse béton," starring Jean-Pierre Kalfon. The film was awarded the Grand Prix at the Orleans Film Festival and the Apple Foundation Film Prize in 1984. Since the 1990s, Le Péron has worked in television, making both fiction films ("Sésame, ouvre-toi" in 1990), and, more particularly, documentary films such as "De la terre à la lune" in 1989, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first moon landing. During this time, he also directed and contributed to the magazine-style TV show "Cinéma Cinémas."
