Discovered in The Quite Long River by Etienne Chatillez in 1998, Benoît Magimel stops his studies to become an actor. After A Single Girl (1995) and a short appearance in Hate by Mathieu Kassovitz, his career gets started with Les Voleurs by André Téchine alongside Catherine Deneuve and Daniel Auteuil.
From then on, Benoît Magimel links up arthouse films Already Dead (Olivier Dahan – 1998), Children of the Century (Diane Kurys – 1999), Selon Matthieu (Xavier Beauvois – 2000) or The Bridesmaid (Claude Chabrol – 2004) and audience releases as The Nest (Florent Emilio Siri – 2001) or Crimson Rivers 2 (Olivier Dahan – 2003).
