Complete filmography
BiographyCatherine Frot early takes drama classes at the Academy of Versailles (near Paris). After the National Drama Academy, she is among the founders of the theatre group La Compagnie du Chapeau Rouge.
Catherine Frot makes her debuts on screen in 1979 with Alain Resnais’ Mon oncle d’Amérique.
Her career first and mostly turns towards theatre classic as contemporary under the direction of Pierre Pradinas, Peter Brook or Luc Bondy. The stage and original version of Un air de famille by Jean-Pierre Bacri and Agnès Jaoui, an the screen adaptation by Cédric Klapisch the following year win her a theatre Molière Award and a Best Supporting Actress César Award in 1997.
Soon attracted by comedy, she is for the audience one of its major standard-bearers, offering her merriment, her eccentricity, her mimics and peculiar diction to most renowned directors: Francis Veber (The Dinner Game – 1998), Lucas Belvaux (The Trilogy – 2002), Mehrzak Allouache (Chouchou – 2003), Philippe de Broca (Viper in the Fist – 2004) among others.
In 2005, Catherine Frot stars in Boudu by Gérard Jugnot alongside Gérard Depardieu and By the Pricking of My Finger by Pascal Thomas, co-starring André Dussollier.
