Complete filmography
BiographyAfter three years studying sociology, then film at the University of Paris VIII, Christian Vincent enrolled at the IDHEC Film School in 1979. After graduating in the directing/editing section, he worked as assistant editor on feature films from 1982 until 1989. During this time, he also made short films, winning numerous awards at film festivals: "Il ne faut juger de rien" in 1982 (Clermont-Ferrand, Villeurbanne and Lille), "Classique" in 1985 (Clermont-Ferrand, Brest and Villeurbanne) and "La Part maudite" in 1987 (Lille, Villeurbanne and the Cinéma du Réel Festival in Paris). His first feature film, "The Discreet," (1990), starring Judith Henry and Fabrice Luchini, was a popular hit, winning Cesar Awards for Best First Film, Best Screenplay and Most Promising Young Actress for its lead actress. Three films followed, all highly acclaimed by public and critics alike. "Beau Fixe" ("Set Fare") in 1992, starring Elsa Zylberstein and Isabelle Carré, received two Cesar nominations, while "The Separation" (1994), with a cast led by Isabelle Huppert and Daniel Auteuil, and "What’s so Funny About Me?" (1997), featuring Jackie Berroyer, were awarded the Grand Prize at the Florence Film Festival.
